Alice & Bob is a French start-up based in Paris whose goal is to build universal and fault-tolerant quantum computers. Founded in 2020 in close collaboration with the French quantum ecosystem, Alice & Bob has raised 30M€ in venture capital, hired over 80 employees. Alice & Bob specialises in cat qubits, a type of superconducting qubit which brings a first layer of quantum error correction. This approach aims at reducing the hardware requirements of the first impactful quantum computers. The next milestone of Alice & Bob is to demonstrate full error correction and realise its first logical qubit based on its cat qubit technology.
The objective of the OSQ+100 project is to build and run a 100 transmon qubit chip. In the research project, the main role of Alice & Bob is to report on the progress of the cat qubit technology. Indeed, most of the technical developments done by the project for the transmon architecture is also compatible with the cat-qubit architecture. This report will help evaluate the interest of cat qubits for the next phase of the project. Alice & Bob will also play a role in testing of various material platforms to identify the most suitable options for achieving higher quality superconducting circuits and share its progress on superconducting circuit simulation tools.
We are happy to push forward the work around superconducting qubits with this excellent European research community. The work that A&B performs in OSQ+ will also contribute to broaden the family of superconducting qubits.
