VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is part of Finland’s innovation system and operates under the mandate of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. VTT is the largest internationally networked R&D centre for applied research in Northern Europe, harnessing multiple high technologies to develop scientific solutions for sustainable development and creating new business opportunities. In 2022 VTT had a staff of 2,213, and a turnover and other operating income of 261 M€.
Key expertise and infrastructure relevant for the OpenSuperQ+ project include design, fabrication and characterization of different solid-state devices and systems including superconductive devices. VTT develops tightly-controlled fabrication processes for large-scale quantum processing units (QPUs) including elements of 3D integration (flip-chip bonding, through-silicon vias). VTT provides traveling wave parametric amplifiers and other auxiliary components tightly linked to the QPU. In addition, VTT works on cryogenic optical link technology, integrates VTT’s quantum computers in the cloud, and develops quantum algorithms.
