TECNALIA

TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION is a private, independent, non-profit applied research center of international excellence. Legally a Foundation, TECNALIA is the leading private and independent research and technology organisation in Spain and one of the largest in Europe, employing 1,401 people (288 PhDs) and with income of 128 million € in 2022.

Our mission is to transform technological research into prosperity and build a better world through R&D, increasing the positive impact of our activity in different dimensions such as economic, scientific-technological, social, and environmental. In the field of quantum technologies, we are creating new technical developments at application level for computing, communication, and detection that leverage the manipulation of matter to harness the properties of quantum mechanics. These will progressively form a new generation of infrastructures for the operation of society in the near future. TECNALIA has been granted 851 patents (within 205 families) and promoted more than 30 spin-off companies.

TECNALIA is a key agent in the ERA – European Research Area. We actively participate in the governing bodies of several European R&I Partnerships, ETPs, etc. (ADRA, Process4Planet, EERA, several EIT KICs). Within the H2020 Framework Programme TECNALIA participated in 353 projects, coordinating 73 of them (EC data), not counting EIT KIC projects. Regarding Horizon Europe, up to the end of 2023, TECNALIA participates in 150 projects coordinating 24 of them. TECNALIA is a member of EARTO and of EUROTECH, linking together the most important RTOs in Europe.

TECNALIA is affiliated with OpenSuperQPlus partner

UPV/EHU

Main tasks in the project

TECNALIA brings to the project its huge experience with classical algorithms and the application of artificial intelligence to those algorithms. The quantum technologies team within TECNALIA is experienced in benchmark quantum algorithms, as well as in the design of hybrid algorithms combining the best of the classical world with the latest improvements in quantum algorithms to meet the needs of industry. TECNALIA has already been successful in providing hybrid solutions for industrial applications, such as logistics.
